Indigenous researcher and community advocacy
Highly experienced in effectively engaging with regional native title and heritage protection bodies including Elders in Central Australia (SA and NT). Activities include community-based research, community governance, Australian language revitalisation, Elder advocacy, and community legal education. Professional background includes high level academic involvement (research trained) in ethical conduct, heritage protection, environmentalism, decolonisation, and impact assessment and planning. Many years experience in community education and activism in cultural heritage management. I publish in a range of places including academic journals, community newsletters, brochures and reports, online journals, books. My research interests are very closely connected to my community engagement activities. I am a long standing employee (working in the coal industry) and environmental/cultural critic of the impacts of minerals and energy resources across regional Australia.
